Footnotes at Paddington

edit

"It is not intended to be used as a cheaper (but slower) alternative to the Heathrow Express service from Paddington to Heathrow: every Connect service is overtaken by an Express service en route, and at Paddington trains are advertised on Departures boards as terminating at Hayes and Harlington, initially with a footnote mentioning that they also call at Heathrow."

Does this mean the footnote is no longer shown? —Preceding unsigned comment added by DavidArthur (talkcontribs)
It wasn't showing last time I went through paddington, I will check if I have time when I next go through Paddington (This Thursday [presumably 20 April Thryduulf 11:08, 21 April 2006 (UTC)]) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Enotayokel (talkcontribs) Reply
      • Forgot to look - held up on the tube and had to sprint for my train - sorry Enotayokel 20:15, 25 April 2006 (UTC)Reply
        • I looked this evening, there was no footnote on the boards nearest platform 1 but there was on the ones nearest platform 8. I don't know how to phrase this in the article! I'll upload the photos I took soon. Thryduulf 21:58, 14 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
          • Just to add further confusion... when I checked this afternoon, the footnote was present and correct on all the displays - both sides of the concourse and on the individual sign at the platform. Slovakia 23:26, 25 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

I'm taking this statement out, since when I was at Paddington last week, the departure board showed "Heathrow Airport via Hayes and Harlington", with the LED platform boards alternating between "Heathrow Airport" and "Hayes and Harlington". Chris cheese whine 23:52, 5 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Expensive short train journeys

edit

There is a similar situation in Sydney, Australia, between the International Airport and Wolli Creek station. The distance is only about 1km (see Airport and East Hills railway line, Sydney) but the single fare is A$15.00 (or about £10) - see Cityrail Fare Calculator. That's about £15.50 per mile - considerably more expensive than the example given here. Jpp42 (talk) 10:09, 6 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
