Misnomer
This article isn't about health care in the Netherlands. It's about health insurance in the Netherlands. It's baffling how there's even a subsection called "Insurance" when in fact every single paragraph of the article is about insurance, except for, ironically, some in the subsection that's actually called "Insurance". 213.10.112.111 (talk) 23:09, 11 January 2010 (UTC)
- True. It even looks like a vehicle to carry anti United States National Health Care Act sentiments. I propose renaming this page to Health insurance in the Netherlands and I also propose removing the opinions posted in the "Reform" section. - Disagree. While I agree that the current content is too much focussed on health care insurance, I believe that it would be wrong to remove the topic healthcare in the Netherlands (by renaming the article). Because the Dutch and the Swiss health care systems resemble that of the US, they are likely to play an important role in future policy discussions. When comparing these systems it would be good to have a complete overview of the health care system. For example, the Dutch have a long tradition of severely restricting the supply of medical doctors and hospital beds. Economic theory would predict this to have had a dramatic effect on the price, quality and access of health care at both treatment level and health care system level. This policy may have had more effect on health system performance than the entire insurance system (i.e. when compared to similar countries). Therefore, readers may have to be made aware the limitations of this page and contributors should be motivated to complete the article.
