Grammar and Clarity edit

This article could stand some serious gramatical cleanup. The content seems good, however there are a lot of runon and unnecessarily complex sentences. A partial rewrite (or at least some serious surgery) could make this article a lot easier to read. /Blaxthos 08:03, 28 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Lack of images edit

The article as a whole is very informative. There are lot of key points and places metioned, it would be nice to add some images taken thoughout the city(Aurriean (talk) 21:13, 18 December 2008 (UTC))Reply

Need to correct Vernon Dahmer information. edit

He did not live in the city limits of Hattiesburg. He lived near Moselle, Ms and the Klan were from Laurel, Ms and most if not all worked at Masonite in Laurel. The trial of Sam Bowers did however, occur in Hattiesburg. Please verify and confirm this information as an accurate history best serves the memory of this civil rights leader. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.123.131.56 (talk) 14:02, 5 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Arts & Culture/ Attractions Section? edit

Other wiki articles on Mississippi cities of similar size to Hattiesburg have some section/ specific information about arts & culture and/ or attractions. I am surprised to find no such section in the Hattiesburg article. Badgernation777 (talk) 22:08, 6 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

It is yet to be created. Magnolia677 (talk) 23:20, 6 July 2014 (UTC)Reply
Badgernation777, there is absolutely nothing to stop you from creating that section. I'd be happy to help you if you want. John from Idegon (talk) 23:52, 6 July 2014 (UTC)Reply
I just started it, but this wonderful city oozes arts and culture so there's lots more to add! Magnolia677 (talk) 00:38, 7 July 2014 (UTC)Reply
Hugely impressed, Magnolia677!! I am planning a road trip to Mississippi soon, and after reading the Wiki pages on Clarksdale, Tupelo, and Oxford, I assumed Hattiesburg had a lot to offer in the way of A&C as well. Thank you for your efforts and for proving my assumptions to be correct!!Badgernation777 (talk) 01:24, 7 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

The city has more religious followers than the actual inhabitants of the town! edit

Close to a 100K followers, but the census shows a population of ca. 48K. How is this possible? Agustin143pr (talk) 12:44, 14 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

What is a "cuty", Agustin143pr? [Fixed spelling and grammar Kdevans (talk) 15:03, 9 December 2016 (UTC)]Reply
If it is some sort of denomination, well, I attend church in a different town than that in which I reside. Is their some reason that is not possible in this community? John from Idegon (talk) 17:17, 14 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

Need help with my edit edit

I just edited the article saying that Hattiesburg is the fourth-largest city in MS (which it is) and I tried to replace the period with a comma but it still shows a period. I need some help here.--73.135.139.61 (talk) 21:07, 10 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

Never mind, I think I got it.--73.135.139.61 (talk) 21:08, 10 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

Weasel words edit

Removed a large number of weasel words from the Civil Rights section, e.g. "allegedly," "reportedly," "claimed." The sources cited do not leave room for ambiguity. For example, one paragraph had that the KKK "reportedly" attacked the home of a NCAAP leader. Later in the paragraph, the attackers are convicted in court. "Reportedly" does not belong here.
