Article title edit

BattleshipMan, DisneyMetalhead, what sources use Has Fallen? And what is the source of the "official film series logo"? Erik (talk | contrib) (ping me) 15:49, 22 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

@Erik: Well, for one, since the films have been called Olympus Has Fallen & London Has Fallen and the upcoming film is titled Angel Has Fallen, that's how it's called Has Fallen. But the logo, no official source. BattleshipMan (talk) 16:24, 22 October 2018 (UTC)Reply
We cannot determine a film series title ourselves. This is too novel. Furthermore, without a source, there is no indication that the logo is official and not a cropped version of one of the titles. The only title I can find in a source is something like this calling it the 'Olympus Has Fallen' film series, so we should follow suit. If sources do call it Has Fallen (which I doubt), we can do that instead. Is there any issue with moving this to Olympus Has Fallen (film series)? Erik (talk | contrib) (ping me) 16:31, 22 October 2018 (UTC)Reply
I don't know what you tell you. We don't know exactly what the official film series title is called frankly. We just don't know if we can find an official title name of that film series. BattleshipMan (talk) 16:36, 22 October 2018 (UTC)Reply
I am saying that the whole series is being called the 'Olympus Has Fallen' series so far. Other sources include this and this. Until the studio gives the films an official label, we must keep to the basic description, which is what I've mentioned so far. No one is using "Has Fallen" on its own. Do you object to making the move? If so, I'll open an RM discussion. Erik (talk | contrib) (ping me) 16:39, 22 October 2018 (UTC)Reply
I'm not necessarily objecting to the renaming of the article. I'm just stating that we don't know have exactly an official title name of the series, even though we have sources that called it Olympus Has Fallen film series which will have to rename it to that until we know an official title name of that series. BattleshipMan (talk) 20:29, 22 October 2018 (UTC)Reply
Yes, I agree that we don't have an official title for the film series. The problem is that Has Fallen is not sourced anywhere. Even as an attempt at a basic description of the films so far, it's too novel and does not make as much immediate sense on the surface. That's why the sources say "Olympus Has Fallen series" since it is a more commonly-understood basic description. Erik (talk | contrib) (ping me) 21:24, 22 October 2018 (UTC)Reply
Alright, forget it. Let's just rename it Olympus Has Fallen (film series) until we find an official source for the title name of that film series. BattleshipMan (talk) 02:06, 23 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

The title was decided on prior to when I made the article. It was a title that had been used years ago when the third film was initially announced. Also the Has Fallen title has been used before in several places such as here for example.--DisneyMetalhead (talk) 06:29, 24 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

Has Fallen (film series)Olympus Has Fallen (film series) – No source calls the series "Has Fallen", where sources call it "Olympus Has Fallen". Already discussed on talk page and convinced other involved editor to make this move. Erik (talk | contrib) (ping me) 11:40, 23 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

This is a contested technical request (permalink). -- AlexTW 14:52, 23 October 2018 (UTC)Reply
  • Comment Filed as a contested technical request when requested at WP:RM/TR due to the apparent lack of any official title for the series; an RM will bring in further opinions to build a clearer consensus on any proposed name for the article. -- AlexTW 15:00, 23 October 2018 (UTC)Reply
  • Support as requester. The title "Has Fallen" is completely unsourced and simply the made-up notion of an editor who took the last two words of the film titles. Instead, sources actually call this series by the first film's title:
  1. Variety: "...the 'Olympus Has Fallen' series."
  2. The Hollywood Reporter: "...its Olympus Has Fallen series..."
  3. Deadline Hollywood: "...the Olympus Has Fallen series..."
Thanks, Erik (talk | contrib) (ping me) 18:12, 23 October 2018 (UTC)Reply
It has been pointed out in the above thread that Cinema Blend uses Has Fallen. However, I think this is uncommon and that the above sources are more recent and more authoritative. Considering Cinema Blend's amateur nature, it's possible that it lazily lifted the film series title from this very Wikipedia article. Erik (talk | contrib) (ping me) 14:24, 24 October 2018 (UTC)Reply
  • Weak support Unless we can have the studio tell us what the official name of the series, we will have to rename it Olympus Has Fallen (film series) for now. BattleshipMan (talk) 18:57, 23 October 2018 (UTC)Reply
  • Support sequel In ictu oculi (talk) 08:35, 25 October 2018 (UTC)Reply
  • Indifferent/comment: I don't care either way honestly, though it's worth noting that some sources do call it the "Has Fallen series", such as here. I only used 'Has Fallen (film series)', as that was the previous WP:QUO that the page had been created as.--DisneyMetalhead (talk) 16:31, 26 October 2018 (UTC)Reply
Yes, I mentioned that above for full disclosure. I think the trade papers are much, much better sources than a source like Cinema Blend, which does not have the equivalent authority or editorial oversight to carry weight. Erik (talk | contrib) (ping me) 17:39, 26 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

Article title (AGAIN) edit

This film series has been referred by multiple reliable sources as the Fallen film series. This can be viewed |here and |here. These are far more accurate than the current title. Though Has Fallen was the "logical choice" a while back, the only title that it has been referred to by reliable sources is the Fallen film series. I am moving the page to this.--DisneyMetalhead (talk) 03:06, 2 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

Revisited edit

It's been over a year, and no other users have stated their insight. However, in Deadline's most recent announcement regarding the fourth film - they repeatedly call this series "the Has Fallen" franchise/film series. Is there anyone opposed to this move?--DisneyMetalhead (talk) 17:27, 10 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

I think it should be kept at the current title. I don't see enough sources calling it "Has Fallen". Moving it back and forth multiple times just creates confusion.★Trekker (talk) 17:37, 10 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
Of noteworthiness, Screen Rant,[1] Slash Film,[2] and Collider[3] all call the films Has Fallen; while Empire calls it "...Has Fallen".[4]--DisneyMetalhead (talk) 17:41, 10 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
@*Treker: the current argument would be that it should have never been moved to Fallen to begin with. There wasn't many sources to give a clear answer in the past, while now all reliable sources are calling it "Has Fallen".--DisneyMetalhead (talk) 17:41, 10 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
@DisneyMetalhead: Fair.★Trekker (talk) 18:05, 10 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
I would support a move to Has Fallen per Deadline Hollywood here. Erik (talk | contrib) (ping me) 18:23, 10 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
I would support that move too. BattleshipMan (talk) 21:17, 10 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Giangkiefer:They just announce the title, all we have to do is retell and re-move as they say Giangkiefer (talk) 10:14, 11 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

Fallen (film series)Has Fallen (film series) – The recent news source related to that movie series from the news source Deadline called it Has Fallen as you can see it here. This page should be renamed to Has Fallen (film series) because of that. BattleshipMan (talk) 16:04, 12 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

  • Comment: Is there wide coverage by a range of multiple sources that title the film series as Has Fallen, or simply the one? -- /Alex/21 19:51, 12 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
    • @Alex 21: Den of Geek has that title on here, Slashfilm has that, Screenrant has that on main title page on here. That's what I got so far, but they have Deadline reporting it on their sites. BattleshipMan (talk) 00:30, 13 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
      • "As Deadline reports", "(per Deadline)", "According to Deadline". I'll paraphrase my question: Is there wide coverage by a range of multiple independent sources that title the film series as Has Fallen? -- /Alex/21 00:46, 13 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
        • Nothing recent, just Deadline. BattleshipMan (talk) 01:04, 13 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
          • Then I oppose the propose move, as only one source refers to it as such. -- /Alex/21 02:48, 13 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
  • Comment If the move goes through, it should be to Has Fallen since there are no competing pages.ZXCVBNM (TALK) 22:14, 12 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

Fallen (film series)Has Fallen – Per discussion above, there are reliable sources calling the film series Has Fallen, such as Deadline Hollywood here. Furthermore, it is an improvement in being closer to the individual films' titles and further from the two unrelated films called Fallen. It is also a more natural and more concise article title. TBA edit

TBA means To Be Announced. TBA as the name suggests is an appropriate template to use for information that is not yet available, but is expected to be available. (For example: Metacritic score of a major upcoming film might be TBA.)
NA means Not Applicable, or Not Available. (For example: A small film that is not even listed at Metacritic: Not Available.)
Words have meaning. Templates can have underlying semantic meaning. It is better to use the template with the right meaning.

There are templates for both {{TBA}} and {{NA}}. Some editors have been using {{NA}} and then changing to the label to TBA {{NA|TBA}}. It is not clear why anyone would deliberately choose not to use the correct available template. I do not believe there is any good reason for doing this. If there is a valid reason for doing this I would be interested to see the editors explain themselves.

When I corrected this usage I was reverted, and an editor claimed it was "fine" and noted that other article were doing this too but we can do better than fine and use the right template.

TBA indicates a belief that information will be available in future, this suggests potential for improvement. NA indicates that the information is not available, it does not suggest that editors should try and check for new information and try to update the field. There is also {{cEmpty}} for empty cells, which is neutral. Using the wrong template can be misleading. Please try to use the right template. -- 109.78.198.204 (talk) 20:52, 24 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

There seems to also be a template {{TableTBA}} so again, there does not seem to be any excuse for misusing the {{NA}} template. -- 109.78.198.237 (talk) 07:02, 25 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
