Obeney/Keeble

edit

The article states that Obeney was seen as a possible replacement for Vic Keeble, but Keeble did not sign till 1957 whereas Obeney was signed in 1956. Stats search bears this out. Eagleash (talk) 20:00, 25 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Think the missing word here is "future". Obeney was not signed as a replacement for Keeble but converted to centre forward as a future replacement. Although signed in 1956, his West Ham career did not really kick-in until 1959. Keeble was badly injured in 1959 [1], played only once more and his career ended in 1960. West Ham knew by then they would need a replacement - Obeney was thought to be that--Egghead06 (talk) 08:27, 26 November 2014 (UTC)Reply
Thanks, that would make sense...when Keeble was injured WHU tried Obeney as a replacement, but it was not the intention at the time of signing... Eagleash (talk) 11:22, 26 November 2014 (UTC)Reply
