Henry AdkinsonHarry Atkinson (baseball) – I have found multiple sources[1][2] that list "Henry Adkinson" and "Harry Atkinson" as being born on January 19, 1874 in Fulton, MO, and as having died on January 2, 1953, in Mexico, MO. In addition, the referenced source of the article[3] and the other two sources all agree that he had five at-bats on September 25, 1895 with one or two hits (although because walks were not differentiated from hits in 1895, this may likely be because he had one hit and one walk.) I noticed this problem mainly because Baseball Reference's URL for this player's profile contains "adkinhe01," meaning that he was likely entered in their database as Henry Adkinson and then changed to Harry Atkinson.

However, other sources[4], as well as Baesball Prospectus, dispute the identity. All evidence, however, points to "Harry Atkinson" and/or "Henry Adkinson" being born sometime in 1874, one in Fulton, MO, and one in Chicago, IL. Their death dates differ, as one died in 1923 in Salt Lake City, UT, and one died in 1953 in Mexico, MO.

The nature of old baseball research is to be this confusing, it would seem. So even if the page is not moved, I would like to extend this discussion in the name of research. My talk page is open if necessary. Highresheadphones (talk) 22:49, 31 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
