Proposed Merging edit

It has been suggested that this school article should be merged to the Education section of the article about its city. I'm not sure if that is the right move. The school meets both verifiability and notability guideline. The Business Coalition for Educational Excellence (BCEE) covered the analysis of schools in NJ and designated this school to be one of twenty schools as a benchmark for other NJ schools in 2007 to follow. NJ State Bar Foundation also covered details of student submissions related to activities in its gifted and talented program. Both (with references) are notable and distinctive from general education article of its city. This article also seems to follow the WP:WPSCH/AG. If we start merging schools into city articles, those city articles will be too long and become unmanageable. What do you think? Z22 (talk) 05:43, 15 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Notability of this school edit

There have been recent edits to change this article into a redirect page. The only sole reasons given were non-notable as per WP:SCHOOLOUTCOMES (an essay, not a guideline), and WP:WPSCH/AG (an advice on article content, not a formal Wikipedia policy or guideline). There was no other information or discussion to substantiate why the school is not notable.

Accroding to both the essay and the advice, they both rely on the WP:ORG or WP:N guidelines to determine whether the subject is notable or not. They also state that when an article is notable, it should only be merged, deleted, redirected, etc.

Therefore, the only question here whether this school is notable. This can be demonstrate through the use the the primary criteria of WP:ORG. Here are the rundown of the coverage on the school activities:

  • Depth of coverage: The coverage may not be in substantial depth, therefore "multiple independent sources should be cited to establish notability". Many of the references listed in the inline citations in the articles are from multiple independent sources. Please check there. Therefore, this requirement is met.
  • Audience: The audience of the sources were considered. Here are some examples. Sources with international/national audience [1][2], state-level audience [3][4][5][6]. Therefore, this requirement is met.
  • Independence of sources: All of the above references are independent sources. There are more independent sources in the article. Therefore, this requirement is met.

Once the notability is established as seen in the above, we can add primary sources to confirm some of the information included in the article. The format of the article follows general ideas in WP:WPSCH/AG.

Please discuss if the above items don't establish notability of this school. Z22 (talk) 01:37, 11 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

They don't establish notability.
[7] - Not written by NASA, apparently anyone can request to have their project uploaded [8], also part of a list [9] which further disqualifies it according to WP:ORGDEPTH
[10] - is a mention
[11] - plenty of other schools on there
[12] - ?
[13] - unsignifigant inclusion in a newsletter by an astronomy club
[14] - mentions in a book about a town in New Jersey
Other sources in the article are either local, non independent, or otherwise non-significant coverage. Rainbow unicorn (talk) 23:42, 22 September 2015 (UTC)Reply
