Date of accident

The article has two different dates for the accidental exposure: April 24, 1976, and August 30, 1976. Does anyone know which is correct? Thanks. Joseph A. Spadaro (talk) 04:40, 3 July 2014 (UTC)

Summary Phrasing

"Harold Ralph McCluskey (July 12, 1912 – August 17, 1987) was a chemical operations technician at the Hanford Plutonium Finishing Plant located in Washington State who is known for having survived, on August 30, 1976, exposure to the highest dose of radiation from americium ever recorded. He became known as the 'Atomic Man'."

The phrasing here is very clumsy due to the abrupt insertion of the date of the accident. It should be split into two sentences. 94.173.137.65 (talk) 19:53, 18 March 2024 (UTC)

Accident

"Harold McCluskey was exposed to at least 37 MBq of americium-241 and nitric acid." I feel that the phrasing of this sentence is a little odd and inconsistent. The becquerel is a unit of radioactivity, but the sentence is written as if it is a measure of mass or volume, especially with the mention of nitric acid. I will have a go at changing this, but I would be happy if someone more scientifically qualified than me wants to update it further.
