The introduction does not seem to follow from the title of this page. Brad7777 (talk)

It is an operator, but is almost universally called the "maximal function". The issue isn't so much with this page, but the standard terminology in the field. Thenub314 (talk) 13:52, 27 April 2014 (UTC)

Proof

In the proof it is said that to invoke the Vitali covering lemma, the family of balls must have a bound on their diameter, yet the family of balls that is subsequently used is not shown to have any bound on the diameter. Cxseven (talk) 06:07, 27 March 2016 (UTC)
