I've uploaded in the Commons a distinctive photo of rime ice; I propose to use this as an example of rime ice.

Page name

The page is currently named "Rime (frost)" although the intro bolds "rime ice". If "rime ice" is correct then this page should be moved there. If "rime" is correct (which I doubt), then it should stay as is. If "rime frost" is viable, then that should be a redirect. I'm not a professional meteorologist, rather an enthusiast: there are in fact three main types of rime: soft rime (granular ice, similar to white frost), hard rime (compact ice) and clear ice (look at this). I think this page refers to hard rime. Rime ice is the same of "soft rime" but is used for aircraft icing (look at this), while hard rime in the same context is called "milky ice".

Tourist attraction?

I removed the section about a place in China where rime frost can be observed. It was a) written in a very unencyclopedic manner and b) didn't really offer much in terms of significance to the article at hand.--Dmz5 06:52, 8 December 2006 (UTC)

Merger proposal

I propose that Soft rime and Hard rime be merged into Rime ice, since they are related concepts with minor distinctions. Each would have its own section. The earlier page split resulted in dividing one concept into two that have very little distinction, except in degree. User:HopsonRoad 13:27, 10 April 2017 (UTC)

I think that is a good idea for convenience. It is an aeronautical term also and I got confused when "Rime Icing" wasn't a thing. User:TheWindWaker13 17:22, 5 May 2017 (UTC)
