He got to know Djuna Barnes (from 1978 on to 1981), because Berenice Abbott, her friend, was worried about her. Hank O'Neal published his Barnes book in 1990, based on their talks, her thoughts and remembrances - there should perhaps be a sentence or two about this in the main text.
