Name of wife

I want to make sure we have his wife's name spelled correctly. Several hundred websites each give it as "Nabra" or "Nadra." I believe Nabra may be the accurate one. Also, is it correct that she is Japanese? Badagnani 20:23, 31 May 2006 (UTC)

Nadra is Arabic (for "rare", the masculine form of which is Nader, a more common Arabic name); I also believe Nabra is the correct name, since it's a traditional Nubian (Fadekki) female name. M. f. kalfat 12:26, 1 June 2006 (UTC)

changed my mind. though still for Nabra (with "b"), the one can't really tell: Nabra is also a Japanese female name! and given that Aladdin (aka El Din) met her first in Japan, she might well be Japanese. Unless more reliable information surfaces, I would suggest "Nabra," used in the article reprinted on his official website (www.hamzaeldin.com) as well as this page, <http://www.naturalchant.com/hamza.htm> written by someone who seems to have known him quite well, is probably correct. The latter also says of Nabra, "She's Japanese, but her name is Nubian." Here's his obituary from the Guardian which clarifies, "[in Japan] he met his wife, who adopted the Nubian name of Nabra": <http://arts.guardian.co.uk/news/obituary/0,,1785724,00.html> So I guess that's one mystery solved. [Also, tangentially, based on my consultation of a fairly extensive Japanese name dictionary, and my 5 years of living in Japan, I don't think that anything closely resembling "Nabla" is a Japanese name, unless it's extremely rare.]

The movie You Are What You Eat

He had multiple songs in the hippie movie [You Are What You Eat] (which also launched the career of Tiny Tim), released in early 1968. Details in the article on that movie. Any objection to adding that here? Admittedly that's a poorly executed movie but it has a certain fame or infamy and he's very noticeable in both the movie and it's vastly more interesting soundtrack album, produced by John Simon.Msalt (talk) 02:19, 11 May 2024 (UTC)
