Hainan Island is different from Hainan Province

edit

Hainan Island (海南岛 Hǎinán Dǎo) is NOT the same as Hainan Province (Hǎinán Shěng). Huayu-Huayu (talk) 20:56, 17 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

The other editors have made this distinction for many years and yet have chosen to keep the two merged. Until you obtain consensus for your changes, the status quo stands and Hainan Island cannot be a separate article; also, constant reversion is pointless and obstructs discussion. Disrupting which discussion? You didn't start a discussion, you removed the Hainan Island article. Huayu-Huayu (talk) 21:47, 17 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Below I copy something I had posted in a similar manner at User talk:Anna Frodesiak:

Where is the logic in calling Hainan Province Hainan, and calling Taiwan Province, Taiwan Province. Hainan as single word means the island for many many people. ... One has no confusion if always the full names are used. Hainan Island and Hainan Province. Have you seen the funny Category:Islands of Taiwan? Are these all islands located on the Taiwan Island? The article name for the Taiwan Island is Taiwan, so the category could mean that.
