Upgraded to Mid importance edit

The Haibutsu kishaku of the Meiji era was a catastrophic event and, together with the shinbutsu bunri, a turning point in the history of Japan and Buddhism. Like it, it is IMHO of at least mid importance, if not higher. You can't understand religion in Japan today without these two articles. urashimataro (talk) 04:14, 12 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

I agree, so I went ahead and upgraded it to high importance. The event is not well known, even among Japanophiles, but that surely doesn't lessen the significance of the event. Boneyard90 (talk) 08:00, 25 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

References edit

Wikipedia as reference for a wikipedia article is not a good idea...bamse (talk) 23:24, 5 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

  1. due to antimetaphysicalism: not to believe in anything outside science
  2. due to religious restrictions (Christianity and Islam don't tolerate other religions officially, they toterate it only outside one's thoughts - a form of gentle racism/bigotism/religionism)
  3. due to some Korean nationalistic interpretations (not a generic opinion); Euro-Koreanism: to make Korea more Caucasian intellectually in order to differentiate it even more from China, Japan and older generations (which by some are considered weak or erroneous due to nowadays problems); pseudo-Koreanism: because Christianity isn't Korean-native.
  4. due to Antiaristocratism / Antimonarchism / Anti-Imperialism (abolishing the Emperor/the Imperial Status) / Presidentialism
