The first paragraph does not make sense to the average reader. It is a little convoluted. Could an explanation of what Habeas Corpus means be put in slightly more simple English at least. Ammi 12:30, 12 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

The link to the habeas corpus act is broken, the text is at http://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Habeas_Corpus_Act_of_1679 Can someone fix this?

The second paragraph states: "Though amended, it remains on the statute book to this day."
