I have attended a HTL in Austria and in school we learnt that the correct English translation for "Höhere Technische Lehranstalt" is "higher technical collage" not "higher technical institute"; my europass "Certificate supplement" also agrees on this. I therefor believe that the translation in the introduction is wrong. As this article also looks somewhat abandoned I will go ahead and just make the edit. If you look at differences between a College and an Institute in a global, not only from Austrian view, you will see that there is clearly a contradiction. It should be either "Higher Technical School", "Technical College", "Secondary College of Engineering" or "Higher Technical (Education) Institute" (http://iate.europa.eu/). College is in most cases and countries known for university, with few exceptions. Lets say we also do make an exception for Austria, BUT a HTL is definitely not a "Higher .. College", because that would rather already denote a university level with at least BSc or MSc, and it is not, we do not need to exaggerate. We also need to know what to translate, either translating word by word with better fitting (Higher Technical Education Institute), or in total meaning (Technical College).

Since the first sentence of the article "A HTL .. is an engineering-focused secondary school in Austria" coming good to the point, and later "vocational education" is mentioned next, we should leave Higher Technical (Education) Institute, and can add "Technical College". another contradiction comes up here: "HTBLuVA, Federal Higher Technical College for Education and Experimentation" - College is already an institution for education, which also shows that it does not fit like that in here. --Esilence (talk) 21:40, 1 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

ISCED levels edit

I think the ISCED levels are wrong.

The Höhere Abteilung closes with Matura and is equivalent to a the standard upper-secondary school (Gymnasium Oberstufe), so it should be ISCED level 3. One might argue the extra year for vocational training is somewhat similar to a short-term post-secondary course, so then it would be ISCED level 4. But it is certainly not a tertiary education (there is no research faculty etc.), so level 5 as in the article is inapplicable.

It is a common problem with HTBLAs: they like to inflate the value of their degree, in some cases even advertising it to be equivalent to Bachelor's (level 6).
