editIn Layamon's medieval Brut, written in Anglo-Saxon/Old English by about 1205, the eponymous king of Cornwall Corineus is said to have had a daughter named Gwendoleine whom he married to one of the other two kings of Britain. This may have been its first appearance in writing but it's impossible to say that it wasn't in use until Victorian times without an exhaustive study of birth records, especially in Wales. 108.56.212.179 (talk) 22:54, 3 September 2013 (UTC)
