Talk:Gunstock war club

Design history edit

Hi,

other pages mentioning the gwc are pretty clear on the club being copies of muskets. Okichitaw, Native American Weapons .... and probably more. So a little inconsistency.

Fwiw, the shape of the gwc is what you get if you try to maximize impact by minimizing contact surface, backed by a natural bend that can take more stress than straight wood before breaking. Original Speculation, of course, but there sure could be purely technical reasons for the design.

Reference to Michael Mann's Last of the Mohicans movie edit

Add a section about "In popular culture"?

In the movie, Chingachgook carries such a weapon throughout the film. He uses it to great effect in the climactic battle of the movie against the antagonist Magua.
