I have removed the sentence which claims that the San Fransisco Botanic Garden website says that G. manicata is edible. There is no exact reference and I cannot find this claim anywhere on their website. They do, however, say that the closely related G. tinctoria is edible, so I suspect that this is the source of the confusion. G. manicata is not listed anywhere else as edible.Dalancarter (talk) 12:07, 20 January 2016 (UTC)
Arran? edit
There was a comment on this page talking about the plant's use on the Isle of Arran. It looked like a joke - I've been on Arran dozens of times and never seen it there. However, if anyone has a source for this info, feel free to restore it! Neezes (talk) 21:22, 17 March 2016 (UTC)
Regarding the use of the Daily mail as a source edit
I noticed the claim that this species is around 150 million years old in the article. The citation was the Daily Mail, a tabloid magazine that is known to be a very unreliable source. I couldn't find any other verification for the claim of the species' age, although I didn't want to remove it because the same citation is used for many parts of the article. It would be helpful if someone could remove all information citing this source and replace it with information from more reliable sources.
