NPD Numbers

"...it became the fifth best-selling video game of 2006...". From what I can make out from the source, these figures are only for the US, and the statement makes out it's a global figure. I think it should be changed. Andy86 (talk) 03:47, 25 November 2007 (UTC)

HELP!

On one of the Guitar Hero games (I forget which one), on the song select screen where the little doodles are on the right side of the screen, there was one near the lower brackets. It had four letters in it, and it was circled with a line through it. I believe it had something to do with Dimebag Darrell of Pantera's murder. Can anyone tell me what the letters were and what the exact significance of the letters were? I thought I remembered something on one of the Guitar Hero pages about it. Those letters say PMRC. They have nothing to do with Darrell or his death. And yes, I believe it was detailed on the main Guitar Hero article. --Machchunk | make some noise at me 00:52, 5 July 2007 (UTC)

Guitar peripheral image

I've noticed that someone's replaced the original image file ([1]) with a different image. I don't know if the image should be re-uploaded or if we should just keep the new one or what. If we're keeping the new one, the image needs a new caption, as the guitars are different models. Pele Merengue 18:12, 31 July 2007 (UTC)

Keeping Scorehero link?

Normally by WP:EL, fan sites aren't to be used as external links, but that's a guideline, not a requirement. Given how big the fan site ScoreHero is to the GH community, I would think they should be kept as an EL on the series page (but not on subsequent other GH pages unless they have provided a reference as in the case of GH3). I object to including any fan site. As soon as you include one, you attract a bunch of others and end up with a linkfarm. Accordingly, I have just deleted the list of fansites from the external links here. =Axlq 21:24, 20 October 2007 (UTC)

GH IV already?

Don't know what to do with this right now: Aerosmith says they're working with producers on GH 4 (which could be read as GH 4 being Aerosmith -specific, or just that Aerosmith is featured in it). Billboard article --Masem 23:17, 4 September 2007 (UTC)

I read the same thing. In the above mentioned article Joe Perry (guitarist Aerosmith) seems to be quite sure of both an upcoming Guitar Hero IV and it being 'dedicated to' Aerosmith, while the gamespot article where I first heard about this is nowhere near as sure. Calling it 'borderline absurd' to base an entire game on one band (which I happen to agree with but that's besides the point). The idea however, they say, should have come from somewhere.Gamespot article

So what's considered an accurate enough source to add this to the wikipedia page? Although I don't quite agree with gamespot ripping the 'deadcurtain-iness' out of the original article, it seems to me questionable at best that Guitar Hero IV will be centered around any one band. Also, what kind of bothers me is the phrasing "the makers of Guitar Hero IV", not simply naming Neversoft or whoever Perry meant. Doubts based upon common sense set aside, the article seems to be clear enough to warrant a (temporary) add to the Guitar Hero Series page. If Aerosmith itself isn't a good enough source then who is? Ok, I've added this reference in (it's stupid not to), but using the direct quote from the article about it being "dedicated" to the group's music. This doens't imply a Aerosmith-only version, likely one that has Aerosmith and other similar genre groups in it.

• There's no page for GH:A at this point because there's not enough information to warrant anything but the initial annoucement. Any GH:A page that gets created at this time will simply be a rehashing of what can be pulled from the Press Release (which is already sourced and readily available on the current page). "Guitar Hero DS"

I've found some articles that are confirming "Guitar Hero DS".[2][3][4] This sounds like it's going to be a separate game from GHIII despite being released after it. (that is, it is apparently NOT "Guitar Hero 3 for the DS"). Right now, however, it's hard to tell. I was posting this here (in the general series page) because this is now notable, but could go in one of three places:

• Make Guitar Hero DS
• Make a section in Guitar Hero III specific for the DS parts, with the potential to move to the above page, but at the present time, creating and redirecting that page to GHIII.
• Same as above, but place info on the series page.

Suggestions? Something does need to be added, its just a matter of where. --Masem 16:52, 7 September 2007 (UTC)

Similarity issue

I love Guitar Hero, but I have never played Guitar Freaks, and I hear many people insulting Guitar Hero for "ripping off" Guitar Freaks. Sudden redirects on Guitar Hero

Um... I was just wondering, was there any discussion at all regarding the addition of the disambig page and move of the main GH1 article to a new title? There didn't seem to be any need for it until the editor who made the moves added a new Guitar hero article that's probably never gonna be able to be anything that doesn't belong on Wiktionary instead of Wikipedia itself. Thoughts? Should we reverse those changes and go back to what had been working for over a year? Rdfox 76 02:39, 20 September 2007 (UTC)

I just put a message on your talk page about this. The problem was that some references to the term "guitar hero" were getting linked to the video game even though they were actually talking about legendary guitarists. My changes were intended to clean up the whole set of "guitar hero" definitions, but you reverted some while this was still in progress. Rodparkes 02:47, 20 September 2007 (UTC)

Personally, I would have thought that the simpler solution would be to remove the wikilinks on the other articles, as I doubt the new article will ever be able to grow far beyond a dictionary definition, but I'll let others have their say, and maybe we can come up with a consensus decision here. Uh, no. A Gibson Firebird is shaped more like an Gibson X-plorer with rounded edges. I have the same wireless, and I believe that it is an original shape developed by the makers and is not based on an existing model. BreakerLOLZ 05:26, 10 November 2007 (UTC)

Character section/page

The characters are non-notable and only are skins. They're mentioned in other articles, but too many people have tried to apply original research to support them more. This is probably not a good idea. --MASEM 03:47, 8 November 2007 (UTC)

Left handed

Go into the Options screen and you can turn on a feature called "P1 Lefty Flip". This will mirror the frets on the screen for you. Hope that helps. They are asking about controllers. Indeed, the controllers whammy set up and strap bar placements favor right handed players.

Personally I think they should make a left handed controller because i am a left handed player as well and then i play on guitar hero 3 for 2 songs "Through the Fire and Flames" by DragonForce and the Lou boss battle (both on hard) they make me strum extreamly fast and the whammy bar gets in my way and it annoys my they should make a left handed guitar hero guitar personally but leftys are scarce Acdcfanactic727 (talk) 04:29, 25 November 2007 (UTC)

Guitar hero Songs Category

Since there have been 4 Games, Do you think that a whole category should be made for All songs that are featured in the Games. I think that this would be very convienent rather than just going to each of the four games's pages to see what songs have been put into the game series. I think adding them into a Category into Alphabetical Order Would be very convienent. Thats just what i think. I wont do the actual change, but if you can that would be very Convienent. I noticed this while scanning the talk. I feel that it's something worth considering. With 4 currently out there (and now a 5th on the way)...and two games with DLC available, it may be a good idea to start pulling together the various "setlist" pages into one "Songs featured in Guitar Hero" page. I can see reasons both ways, and since I tend to lean towards "efficiency" vs. what might make sense from an encyclopedia standpoint, I may be a bit biased. My read of Wikipedia:Overcategorization suggests that a category of "Songs featured in Guitar Hero games" would liked be considered overcategorization though none of the cases there exactly match what this category would do. Would it be easier to get approval if we had one category for the entire concept (Songs in Guitar Hero) and had each game be it's own subsection/list? (I-III, 80's, Aerosmith) That way it's one page, has all the songs, but it's not just one giant list with everything mashed together. Each game section would be split (if applicable) into "Main Setlist", "Bonus Songs", "Downloadable Songs". The list would essentially be what's on each page (broken up by Set/Tier in the order their listed in career mode). DLC would be grouped by pack and sorted by release date (similiar to as it is now). Confusing
