According to Maya Deren in her book Divine_Horsemen:_The_Living_Gods_of_Haiti (see References) Guinee is the "legendary place of racial origin". It is also referenced as the "Island Below the Sea" where the Loa have their permanent residence, and to it the souls of men return.
I have also read of Ife being the place of origin.

Since this article is a stub, I will be merging it to the beliefs section of the religion itself rather than this separate article.
