Michael, Gabriel, or none of the above

edit

The article claims that the Guardian Angel of Portugal is the "emanation" (?) of Saint Michael the Archangel. The Portuguese Tourist Office [1] apparently claims "the Archangel Gabriel, Portugal's guardian angel". The legend regarding the Battle of Ourique referred to in support of Michael doesn't mention him at all but St. James, and later St. George. Citations to reliable sources might help clear up some of the confusion. Mannanan51 (talk) 19:50, 23 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

The image is from the vaulted ceiling of Sant'Antonio dei Portoghesi in Rome and is Salvatore Nobili's The Apparition of the Crucifixion to King Alfonso I Henriques of Portugal. It has nothing to do with the Guardian of Portugal. Manannan67 (talk) 03:15, 2 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
