Products Section

The list of Products is currently a mix of company names (Deep Secure,Nexor), Product Names(RS Gate,SAGE, SyBard::Sentry) and both (Raytheon High Speed Guard). Should this be changed for consistency. 86.149.18.53 (talk) 00:04, 18 July 2012 (UTC)

Good point. I've edited the article to separate product name and company name, though it isn't entirely clear what the product name is in some cases. SimonWiseman (talk) 16:24, 18 July 2012 (UTC)

SyBard

When I first researched the article, SyBard came up on the Boldon James website and not QinetiQ. So when rearranging the product names / company names I put both to cover the bets. Now someone has changed it to be just QinetiQ. I made the change mentioned above and would like to justify it with the fact that the Datasheet available on the linked Boldon James website; http://www.boldonjames.com/assets/downloadableFiles/sybard_cross_border_guards.pdf refers to SyBard::Sentry as a QinetiQ product. I would suggest changing the SyBard::Sentry link to point to the QinetiQ website, however as things stand there appears to be more information available on the current Boldon James page. Sounds good to me. I can't find any more solid reference. It seems like QinetiQ prefer the term "gateway" to describe their product - the link you quoted is the only one referring to it as a guard as far as I can see, though it is referred to extensively on the Boldon James site as a "guard". Since this is an article about the term "guard" its not appropriate to reference anything else. SimonWiseman (talk) 07:00, 23 July 2012 (UTC)

SAGE reference

A recent edit changed the form and style of the reference to the SAGE guard. The citation form might be improved but the style is now quite bizarre and doesn't match the others. I think it should be made to look right, while of course using "cite" correctly.SimonWiseman (talk) 21:40, 26 July 2012 (UTC)

I'd second this, as my understanding is that the correct use of the citation template should be to have the full citation in the footnote and refer to it elsewhere. It is possible that a citation isn't right in this instance, and that undoing this change might be in order. Joseph M Warren (talk) 23:35, 26 July 2012 (UTC)

I think you're right. The product names in the list should be plain names with a reference that points down to the references section where there is a proper citation. SimonWiseman (talk) 21:46, 5 August 2012 (UTC)

I've changed the list of products to use referenced citations. Since almost all of these are web page links it doesn't add much, but as one at least is a proper document I think it is an appropriate change. I suspect the citations could do with more information in them as the references only show their title out of context and so it is not obvious what they refer to. Deep-Secure Vs Deep-secure

As far as I can tell from the Deep-secure page, DeepSecure is the name of the guard product, and Deep-Secure (upper case S) is the name of the company, however, the page itself is called Deep-secure (lower case s). I've changed the name in the list of products to be consistant with the page name (Deep-secure), but strongly suspect that this is wrong. Joseph M Warren (talk) 20:40, 4 August 2012 (UTC)

I think you've spotted a problem there. The company is called Deep-Secure, not Deep-secure, so that page title is wrong. I've now gone and Moved the page to fix that. The product is called DeepSecure. So I think the company name reference should change back on this page. However, that can be done in conjunction with fixing the references.
