Reformatting article edit
I think this article needs to be reformatted. I think a "History" section would be appropriate, and then a "Today" section or something similar, which would list the jurisdictions that still have gross indecency statutes. Michipedian (talk) 23:29, 30 November 2017 (UTC)
What does this mean? edit

"Victorian-era morality"? Meaning what, exactly? Sounds like an opinion, rather than a fact supported by empirical evidence.
Ask most people to define 'Victorian morality' and they have difficulty getting beyond simplistic notions of repression, hypocrisy, and Puritanism. The Victorians were more complex in cultural practice, and less narrow in their thinking, than most people understand. It was an age of sweeping humanitarian reform such as we are unlikely to see again.
FWIW, much of the 'sex' legislation of that time was intended to protect the children of the poor, some of whom did not hesitate to put their children into prostitution to eke out the family income.
