Why he is labelled as a War Criminal in the Introducing Section? edit

Why Mr. Zass is labelled as a War Criminal in the Introducing Section but modern-day War Criminals such as Bill Clinton or Barrack Obama not? The Sanctions against Iraq in the 1990ties killed 1,7 Million People for example.--88.66.131.142 (talk) 18:02, 23 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Your political posturing aside, it is a problem that this article labels this fellow a war criminal without him having been convicted by any court of such a crime. Are we going to go through every great butcher of the past and put 'war criminal' in their introductory paragraph? Genghis Khan, Nader Shah, Tamerlane, the leaders of the first crusade... It will never end.

Done: I haven not taken the first user seriously due to their solely nationalist-POV whataboutist reasoning, but this is a valid point. It'll be removed. Sincerely, AdigabrekTalk   12:22, 11 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

Although his family had distant roots in Westphalia, Georg Otto Ewald von Sass, was a Baltic German from Courland. Source --84.50.211.199 (talk) 18:29, 12 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

Discussion in the NPOV noticeboard edit

There is a discussion about a NPOV problem with this article and even its admissibility in Wikipedia:Neutral_point_of_view/Noticeboard#Grigory_Zass_and_other_articles_related_to_Circassia. Dominic Mayers (talk) 22:36, 9 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Highlanders edit

When the word "highlander" is used. It is not in a racial meaning. It's the same meaning in someone who specializes in the hills and mountains like for example the caucasian mountains. 93rd (Sutherland Highlanders) Regiment of Foot, Kilt, and Highland games it is not in any means being utilized in a racial slur. Saying Highlander is just the kind of soldiering you are doing. — Preceding unsigned comment added by OhioGopnik (talkcontribs) 17:16, 21 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

Either way it would be more appropiate to refer to them by their proper names. A poor son of Adam (talk) 18:22, 21 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

Warcrimes and genocidal actions - advocacy of genocidal rape edit

the sources provided (footnotes 62, 63) seem to refer to instances of ottoman abduction and rape of armenian women. the overall tone and proposed depth of evidence in the article seems somewhat befuddling as to the lack of sources on the topic in another language than the one the author seems to speak. 2A02:908:8C2:6C60:3155:E803:B22C:CA7D (talk) 20:10, 24 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

I removed that section. My note which is basically same as yours:
[Not only does the citation not support the mass rape claim, it outright says that the Turks were raping Circassian women, and that this stopped when the Russian Empire won its war.] Johnjohnson1980 (talk) 17:50, 25 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

The entirety of footnote 20 doesn't seem to be a reliable source at all. Its references either don't work or don't lead to anything specific. The 'info' about Zass burning and stabbing pregnant woman is from a 'Lament'. Which given that his intelligence and psychological warfare tactics worked really well on the tribal Circassians, is not much of a source. I won't delete it, but I will change the wording to make it clear that the relevant passage is an oral tradition rather than a documented fact (unless a better source can be provided) Johnjohnson1980 (talk) 18:11, 25 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
