71 or 75 MPH?
editI have twice now changes someones edit for the "The world's fastest dive machine coaster" from 75 MPH back to 71 MPH. But I find reasoning behind their edits. On griffoncoaster.com they list the ride as 75 MPH, but on RCDB it is listed as 71 MPH. Which is correct I do not know unless I go to the ride with a radar gun but which should be included in the article. Montu Man 1011 20:10, 16 July 2007 (UTC)
Incorrect spelling
editDoes anyone know why this coaster is named griffon when the correct spelling of the eagle/lion creature is griffin? A griffon, for the record, is a dog. - Jdmalouff 13:22, 13 August 2007 (UTC)
- Actually, the proper spelling of the beast is "gryphon". Timetrial3141592 02:08, 18 September 2007 (UTC)
- In response to this... the roller coaster is in the French section of the park. The accepted French spelling of "gryphon" is "griffon," at least according to Wikipedia. Perhaps this is the reason they spelled it incorrectly...? I could be wrong. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.77.67.237 (talk) 04:00, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
Ride Duration
editI'm puzzled by the ride duration which is listed as 3:00. This is also the time on the official site. I timed it while on the ride, and it was only about 2:00 long.
- 1:46, actually, I think. The 3-minute ride duration time was taken from the press release, and was probably written as an estimated, or "hoped for" time, like Millennium Force's "2:45" (2:20), Xcelerator's "1:02" (22 seconds), or Kingda Ka's "50.6" (59 seconds). SheiKra was also released as 3:00, but is actually officially only 2 minutes, 20 seconds long. --CPGACoast (talk) 16:06, 19 July 2008 (UTC)
It was almost 2:00 to the second from when the ride started moving to when it came to a stop back at the station. Getting to 3:00 would probably have to include when the boarding gate opened up to exiting the boarding area. It would depend on how much they have to yell at people to sit on their sandals rather than leave them on the deck :) 68.15.158.153 (talk) 23:13, 28 July 2008 (UTC)
Stuck on the way up
editOn Saturday while I was riding this we got stuck going up the chain. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jason Garrick (talk • contribs) 00:07, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
Wait time at the top
editAre we sure it's five seconds? The duration of time riders stop at the top of the first drop, that is? Last weekend, I was waiting on line, and we counted seven seconds pretty consistently. Of course, we didn't use a stopwatch. Where are these statistics taken from? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.84.66.81 (talk) 18:59, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
I've ridden it many times and I'm pretty sure it's five seconds once it comes to a complete stop at the top. We always count it off as we're hanging up there. It slowly edges forward to hang point for a few seconds before that. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.15.158.153 (talk) 14:17, 4 July 2008 (UTC)
Station Recording
editthis is just my opinion but is this section necessary I find it pointless and out of normal coaster format--Cmedinger (talk) 14:01, 22 July 2008 (UTC)
I agree. It really doesn't add any useful or interesting information but takes up a lot of space. I don't see any other coaster articles with it. I'll remove it for now.
Never mind...it looks like someone already did it. 68.15.158.153 (talk) 23:19, 28 July 2008 (UTC)

- Lead too short, doesn't summarise the whole article per WP:LEAD.
- Done--Dom497 (talk) 20:35, 19 September 2013 (UTC)
- Is it Griffon or Griffon? (Suggest you apply these common fixes to all the GANs you have nominated)
- This looks consistent to me...can't find anything wrong.--Dom497 (talk) 19:07, 13 September 2013 (UTC)
- Article title. Intro of article. That's just the first two instances... The Rambling Man (talk) 19:39, 13 September 2013 (UTC)
- Well, Apollo's Chariot, Nemesis (roller coaster), Batman: The Ride, Air (roller coaster), Green Lantern Coaster, Scream (roller coaster) all are like Griffon (and those are just a few articles).--Dom497 (talk) 20:31, 13 September 2013 (UTC)
- I don't get your point. Is it italicised or not? Be consistent. It's somewhat irrelevant what "other" articles do. The Rambling Man (talk) 09:51, 14 September 2013 (UTC)
- Not worth discussing it...I have removed the italics.--Dom497 (talk) 20:10, 19 September 2013 (UTC)

- Link Dive Coaster in the lead.
- It already is at the very beginning.--Dom497 (talk) 19:07, 13 September 2013 (UTC)
- "opening date.[7][6]" numerical order please.
- Fixed--Dom497 (talk) 19:07, 13 September 2013 (UTC)
- "restraint with a seatbelt.[14][7][16] " ditto.
- Fixed--Dom497 (talk) 19:07, 13 September 2013 (UTC)
- "One of Griffon's trains passing through the splashdown element." incomplete sentences in captions don't need a full stop.
- Fixed--Dom497 (talk) 19:07, 13 September 2013 (UTC)
- Should "Build It Bigger" be in italics like normal TV shows?
- Fixed--Dom497 (talk) 19:07, 13 September 2013 (UTC)
- Use Floorless coaster in the article rather than have it as a See also.
- Done--Dom497 (talk) 19:09, 13 September 2013 (UTC)
- Check refs for en-dash, e.g. ref 32 title needs one.
- Done...I think.--Dom497 (talk) 20:18, 19 September 2013 (UTC)
- Category calls it a "hypercoaster" but this isn't covered at all in the article.
- This has to do with the infobox coding but I have no idea how to remove it. @Themeparkgc: any help?--Dom497 (talk) 20:07, 19 September 2013 (UTC)
- The infobox automatically categorises roller coasters which are between 200 and 299 feet (61 and 91 m) as hypercoasters per the main article. We could add a parameter to disable that categorisation when set, if you need to. Themeparkgc Talk 06:25, 20 September 2013 (UTC)
- It's a little dangerous to have auto-categorising infoboxes, for this very reason. I have no idea what a hypercoaster is, and it's not mentioned in the article at all, so it's a surprise to me (and probably other readers) that it should be categorised as such without it being included. The Rambling Man (talk) 16:12, 24 September 2013 (UTC)
- I've added the parameter as an interim measure so the category does not appear on this article. A wider discussion will need to take place prior to the removal of the categorisation to other articles. I'll start this at a later date. Themeparkgc Talk 02:09, 25 September 2013 (UTC)
