Talk:Grierson Awards

Latest comment: 6 years ago by InternetArchiveBot in topic External links modified

The introduction states "The awards have grown in stature and recognition over the years and now are "more important (than ever). They have an impressive list engaging with a broad palette of styles and subjects from disabled people looking for love to asylums, Russian billionaires and global warming." [2]" - the reference is one comment by one author, and is hardly an objective statement. In fact, it reads like it was written by a public relations intern. For an introduction, it is especially important not to 'slip in' opinionated garbage - it reflects badly, and encourages the view that Wikipedia cannot be trusted. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Heenan73 (talkcontribs) 13:58, 2 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

If something reads like "PR" and "opinionated garbage", then who would be trusting it?
In a case like that, you simply tag the article, calling for a rewrite.

"Who is Grierson" edit

Grierson is so fundamental to documentary film, is it actually necessary to "prove" that Grierson is Grierson in a minor article such as this?
Those facts should be taken as a given. Varlaam (talk) 22:51, 1 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Can I just say Geo. Washington was the first US president, or do I need to cite an 18th century newspaper article? Varlaam (talk)
