Comment
editIs it true that her song from "All Jacked Up" called "Skoal Ring" was supposed to be a single but it was pulled becaues they thought it advocated the use of tobacco?
Does Gretchen have Native American ancestry?
editIf not, does she have Chinese or Japanese ancestry? I ask because I know a Hapa chick who's a dead ringer for her and she's half German/half Chinese. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 64.139.8.110 (talk) 23:26, 24 January 2007 (UTC).
Lesbian??
editWhere is the source for this "After seeing brokeback mountain, she announced she would become a lesbian.
If this is true, damn! What's wrong with this woman? Does she have to do everything she sees in movies?? (IE: Eating more fast food after "supersize me" came out. I've removed the section until someone gives a source.

"One of the boys" vandalism
editWhat is up with the recurring vandalism of renaming "The Girl I Am" to "One of the boys"?
And if this info is true, which I don't think it is, it needs a source if it's going to be put on wiki.

- just found out on CMT.com [1] --Caldorwards4 01:25, 18 March 2007 (UTC)
I can't believe that! What a horrible album title! As if she didn't bring herself down enough in her most recent video!
Vala M 13:35, 18 March 2007 (UTC) Yall are crazy. And what ever you were talkin' about "The Girl I Am" or "One of the Boys" title is not a bad name. And she didn't bring her status down by her last video. I think your talkin' about "Come to Bed" if you are...well it's nominated for a CMT Award!
Lawsuit
editI've added a section regarding the lawsuit filed by the Black Crowes against Wilson, using the citations from the Crowes page. Umbralcorax (talk) 18:41, 12 August 2008 (UTC)
- Three years later, this section still sits with no resolution and claiming they expect a quick resolution. Simply getting sued isn't always going to be inherently notable. Leaving it up there, without resolution, for so long gives an improper implication that Wilson did something wrong, which is a BLP issue. Unless someone can show why the suit itself is that notable and how it was resolved, I'm going to remove it as WP:UNDUE weight. Niteshift36 (talk) 19:22, 23 August 2011 (UTC)
New Section: Rock Music
editI added a section on her rock music - particularly her performances of classic songs by Heart. She's an amazingly talented rock singer - right up there with Ann Wilson at her best. The Wilson sisters (Ann and Nancy) have appeared several times with her. That's a win/win situation, as they get more exposure for their music (to younger audiences) and, potentially, someone to carry it on, as they are getting older. For Gretchen - a long-time fan of theirs - it's "beyond a dream come true".
New Section: Charities and Public Service
editAdded a new section on Charities and Public Service, as she definitely deserves recognition for what she is doing along these lines.
For this, and for the new section on Rock Music, I tried to include a complete set of references, noting that the article had been tagged as needing more references. I used numbered footnotes for things like articles and pointers for links to things like song performances.

no personal info???
editWhy does this page not have any personal/biographical information? It's basically nothing more than a summary of her career. Where's she from? What about her family? Elsquared (talk) 04:37, 14 June 2016 (UTC)
I second those questions. Is her personal life a secret for some reason? Is her life prior to 2003 a secret for some reason? That information must be available somewhere. 66.162.249.170 (talk) 02:16, 12 October 2017 (UTC)
Can someone confirm that:
1. Wilson's unmarried teenage parents split when she was two years old? 2. Wilson's mother married at age 18 to an "older man" (age 28), and the marriage lasted 16 years? 3. Wilson's step-father was violent and abusive? 4. Wilson dropped out of high school but earned her GED (eqivalent of a high school diploma) when she was 34? 5. Wilson has a daughter, Gracie Frances Penner, born November 9, 2000 to Wilson and Michael Penner, who is a graduate of Belmont University?
Wilson has mentioned these things as facts in interviews that are now online. Would online posts in mainstream media -- not personal blogs -- elevate them above the dreaded category of "original research?" 2603:800C:3A40:6400:D0A4:C2C7:CD9E:D355 (talk) 22:44, 17 December 2023 (UTC)

Gretchen Wilson passed? Please confirm this.
editLooking online today (17 Dec 23) I found no credible confirmation that she has died. Nor does there seem to have been any announcement of her "passing" in the major mainstream media. Confirmation is needed -- one way or the other. 2603:800C:3A40:6400:D0A4:C2C7:CD9E:D355 (talk) 22:12, 17 December 2023 (UTC)
