I don't think we need to reproduce the content from Ashkenazi here. A small section, and a reference when the article is finally published, is definitely enough. I remain rather concerned that searching for "google:Journal of Biosocial Science Gregory Cochran" yields this very page. The 2nd yield in that search is for the economist article, which verifies the study's acceptance for publication. The Wikipedia article only comes up first because of the large amount of inter-linking present on Wikipedia articles, which boosts it's ranking in google. It may also be ranked higher than the economist article because websurfers love Wikipedia ;) As far as is the study notable, acceptance for publication in Cambridge's Journal of Biosocial Science and coverage in the NY times and the Economist is fine. It's normal for it to be accepted for publication in the journal prior to publication in the journal, yes? Hm, maybe. The blogs didn't pick it up until it was covered in the economist, which agreed to cover it once it found a journal. The Gene Expression genetics blog that this article mentions Greg comments on sometimes covered it earlier when he was looking for a journal, but this kind of thing is right up their alley.--Nectarflowed ^T 4 July 2005 08:06 (UTC)

Not that I can tell, he is unqualified to practice or teach anthropology. I have discovered today the summary of his book. I have pesonnaly follow a very close path last year and produce an article about this phenomen through an adaptation of the Flynn effect. Here is the article, automatic translation can give you an idea about content but graphic is quite interesting to compare to the way of mind of Cochran.

Writing on Military Topics

Adjunct Professor?

Is Cochran really an adjunct professor? He's not listed among the adjunct faculty. The school has only this which describes him as a "Research Associate." I suspect he's basically an independent scholar who was given some token position at the school so he could work more easily with professors there and use the libraries and whatnot. Then, because he's co-authoring studies with actual professors and because he's the age to be a professor rather than a research associate, somebody just called him a professor.
