Fair use rationale for Image:GreeenbrierHIghSCHOOL.jpg edit

Image:GreeenbrierHIghSCHOOL.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Coke vs. Pepsi Controversy edit

I believe that this school was the site where, in 1998, a senior got suspended for wearing a Pepsi shirt on "Coke Day". From what I understand, this was a huge issue, and garnered national attention, with the incident even being referenced in several books. Shouldn't this be noted on the page, as it did attract national attention both to the school and to the issue of corporate sponsorship in schools, as well as to the first ammendment? I don't have expertise in the area, but if anyone would like to do some research and add a section on this, I think it would be worthwhile. Rising*From*Ashes (talk) 18:14, 31 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Alma Mater edit

It is usually not Wikipedia policy to allow school fight songs and alma mater songs in articles due to potential copyright violations. Shall I remove the section titled Alma mater from the article? GO-PCHS-NJROTC (talk) 02:25, 22 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

I know this song isn't copyrighted. It was a student that attended the school years ago that came up with the song. AMERICAN MIGHT (talk) 19:41, 22 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
Although you may be correct, your statement reads more as if you don't understand copyright. Being a student isn't relevant. The fact that it was relatively recently (post 1923) means that it almost certainly IS copyrighted unless the student in question specifically and in writing transferred it to the public domain. If the student wrote it as a "work for hire" for the school, the school is likely the copyright owner. IANAL, but I've had way too many conversations with lawyers about intellectual property rights. I'm removing the lyrics until you can provide a reference to the copyright status of the song. HDow (talk) 20:29, 22 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

What should I do?

Don't panic; you should have time to contest the deletion (although please review deletion guidelines before doing so). The best way to contest this form of deletion is by posting on the image talk page.

Statistical Updates edit

Hello everyone, I am new to editing Wikipedia, and I am doing so for a college assignment. I am proposing an update to the enrollment and graduation rate statistics per Greenbriers website. I would change the following section:

"For the 2010–11 school year, Greenbrier High School enrolled more than 1,600 students in grades 9 through 12. They boast an astounding 98.8% graduation rate, as well as an average of a 96.93% attendance rate.

The school mascot is "Wolfie Wolfman" and the school colors are deep green, gold, and white."

Into: "For the 2023–24 school year, Greenbrier High School enrolled more than 1,800 students in grades 9 through 12.[1]https://greenbrierhs.ccboe.net/apps/pages/index.jsp?uREC_ID=1202213&type=d&pREC_ID=1533880 They boast an astounding 98.7% graduation rate, and a College and Career Ready Performance Index score of 87.5.[2]https://greenbrierhs.ccboe.net/apps/pages/index.jsp?uREC_ID=1202213&type=d&pREC_ID=1593360

The school mascot is a wolf, and the school colors are hunter green, gold, grey, and white."

Please let me know if this is acceptable, again, because I am new to editing.
