First paragraph out of place?

I get the feeling that the first paragraph is from some article comparing the Tree Python to some other species, someone who knows what the paragraph is trying to say could perhaps make it a more suitable introduction? 193.166.84.136 17:28, 19 July 2007 (UTC)

Another green tree snake?

There seems to be a rather different snake called 'green tree snake': [1] This one can also be known as the 'yellow-bellied black snake' when it's particularly dark. Do we have an article on it? Stevage 13:51, 29 January 2008 (UTC)

I have no doubt at all that there are lots of different snakes in the world that people refer to as green tree snakes. That's one of many reasons why it's such a good idea to use scientific names for article titles while using common names for redirects and disambiguation pages. --Jwinius (talk) 16:13, 29 January 2008 (UTC)

A more detailed image

It's not mine but it came up on FP and it is much sharper and full of detail than the existing 2 similar pictures and consequently I would maintain has much higher enc value. I added it to the article but it got reverted, so I am leaving it here for anyone with more knowledge of the subject to look at and compare to the existing images. I tend to agree with Narayanese. Yes, this image does have a much higher resolution, but somehow I don't find it to be that attractive. At least it's available via the Wikimedia Commons link, along with quite a few others. Maybe we'll add it later once the article has become larger. --Jwinius (talk) 22:22, 2 August 2008 (UTC)

Top Image

This is the image that was at the top of the page. I'm going to be bold and switch it with the one just above, which does look better. And if the article becomes larger, there's no reason not to add this photo as well as necessary. zafiroblue05 | Talk 07:19, 18 October 2008 (UTC)

Well so far that's two vs one for the newer one. The composition of the newer image is better. Please explain what you mean by 'it shows a specimen in a more characteristic position'. They are in almost identical positions. The new one is sharper and more detailed and the subject is not behind the leaves and thus the image is more encyclopedic. More opinions are needed to establish consensus on a change rather than just firmly sticking with the old one. Mfield (talk) 00:44, 19 October 2008 (UTC)

No, that's 2 to 2 -- don't forget Narayanese. As for what a characteristic position is, have a look at the images for this species on the Commons server here. Usually, the chin or lower jaw rests flat on one of the coils with the crown of the head facing ourwards. In the Morelia-viridis_edit1.jpg image, the head is resting sideways between the coils, which is unusual and uncharacteristic. I know that it's a featured image on the German WP, but it just looks awkward to me. Besides, swapping this image for the exiting one is a marginal improvement at best. If you really want to make a difference, add some more (referenced) information to the article (it still has a long way to go). --Jwinius (talk) 03:15, 19 October 2008 (UTC)

Unreferenced sections

I tried to figure out which of the two references used for some bits (McDiarmid, and Kivit and Wiseman) might be applicable to any of the copious unsourced section text blocks, but not having access to the books, this defeated me. I suppose it's likely that these were meant to source the description/diet/reproduction paragraphs, but I can't tell. Placed {cn} tags for the time being; if someone has the material and can check, that'd be grand. - I also majorly cut down on the captivity section. Morphs

There is an image of a Maroon morph boa. I feel that it would be appropriate to add information on the morphs of this species. If only to make the image more relevant to the article as a whole[.[User:TheDarkMaster2|TheDarkMaster2]] (talk) 22:25, 18 August 2019 (UTC)
