Proposed Contributions

The article on Greece-United States relations has some interesting information but is in general poorly cited. Within the first introductory paragraph, there are statements about when the two countries first became alliances, or established connections which is not referenced. The Section on Historical Ties is fairly weak and could use much expanding. Creating a more chronological order out of the information already present, and updating information to be well cited will add much to this section. Using sources from the US Dept. of State, and the Hellenic Republic could strengthen this history section

Under the Trade and Foreign Investment section, there are claims of Greek exports the US receives but there are no sources to support this. One of the articles above includes such support

The Military Collaboration section has some interesting information with two citations for the entirety of this section. However, the only information presented dates back to 1990, which is not quite sufficient. There should be an inclusion of military collaboration stemming from previous wars like WWI and WWII, to the most recent events.

Diplomatic Representation is summarized well, in terms of identifying the presence of each country in common forums, however there is a lack of citation here as well. This I can further research.

Greek-American community focuses on the Greek community present in America, as well as Greek Lobbying, however both of these can be expanded more. It would be beneficial to include the community or presence of US Americans in Greece as well to eliminate the one-sided perspective. This section could tie greatly into my intercultural communication knowledge in terms of distinguishing differences between cultures and how they communicated interpersonally.

How do Greek people actually view the United States

I'm a Greek having grown up in Athens and, even though there's a significant number of Greeks who are pro-American, they are in the minority. The previous source's claim suggesting Greece is mostly pro-American is simply not true.

Our (pro-American) government does NOT speak for the majority of Greeks, as, if you do the math for the 2019 elections, only 23% of those voting age actually supported New Democracy. A majority of Greeks actually think that Americans have betrayed Greece during the events of Turkish invasion of Cyprus. Greeks are also often critical of the US' intervention in Yugoslavia, Iraq, Afghanistan, and Libya.
