editIt would be good to know which of the lines that are built are still in use? I think the main part is part of the East Coast Main Line now? Morwen - Talk 23:47, 7 December 2005 (UTC)
- Articles about "so and so Railway" in the UK tend to be about the company, while articles about lines tend to be called "So and so Line" eg: North Midland Railway and Midland Main Line, Derwent Valley Line etc. I think would tend to keep things more simple. The Hope Valley Line for instance was built in bits by a plethora of different companies. Chevin 07:22, 8 December 2005 (UTC)
- Yes. I don't mind what article the info is on, but the information isn't here in wikipedia at all. East Coast Main Line hints at it, but doesn't outright say which stretch was used, and there's no link from this to ECML at all. Morwen - Talk 07:29, 8 December 2005 (UTC)
- Well I'm still busy with the Midland/LNWR/GCR round Manchester. It needs someone with a historical bent.Chevin 18:21, 8 December 2005 (UTC)
Hi i've quite recently created an article called the Great Northern Route. All it basically shows are the stations on the line between Kings Cross and Peterborough. I know this route is often referred to as Great Northern I know there are other articles on different liones and so i created the article for that purpose. All it currently shows is the stations and nothing else. What are people's opinions on it? What could be done to improve it? Should it be merged with this article? I chose "route" as it seems to be an almalgamation of several lines. Simply south 10:03, 9 May 2006 (UTC)
- For the reasons given above I dont think it should be merged. It has the potential to be an article in its own right, possibly named Great Northern Line to maintain consistency. Also it is very different from the original Great Northern Railway. Chevin (talk) 09:27, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
Punctuality
editIt would be really useful to include a section about the punctuality of GNR trains. FreeFlow99 (talk) 09:39, 20 August 2013 (UTC)

- The GNR's carriages didn't really have a livery as such... like those of the LNER, they were made of teak, which was varnished, and not painted. --Redrose64 (talk) 19:39, 30 January 2014 (UTC)
Wine auction
editNot worthy of comment in the main article, but passing researchers might wish to know of an auction, by Messrs.
