I'd like more information regarding the agreement itself. Does it enable new uses of water? Restrict uses of water? What did the compact achieve that was not possible prior to its signing?

This was on my to-do list so I had some sources compiled. Here they are, they may help.

Thanks! I'll expand with them if I get the chance. FingersOnRoids♫ 22:20, 25 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

I added some more links and an infobox. The USA Today story by Cauchon was actually cited in the House report (110-863) in the background and need for legislation section. Tangurena (talk) 05:00, 10 April 2009 (UTC)Reply
Nice job fleshing out the stub a bit. An additional note, for the legislation section: the compact had to pass through each state legislature as well as the federal legislature. Some of the above links are discussing the bill in context of the state house or senate. The section should lend itself well to having a "federal" and "state" subsection. The legislative history of the Great Lakes Compact is sure to be interesting. Again, nice work. :-)--IvoShandor (talk) 23:15, 12 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Environmental Justice and the Great Lakes Compact

edit

There is not a lot of justice for the residents of North Western Racine County and later on the City of Racine Wisconsin. This scholarly Article done by graduate students from the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee School of Fresh Water Science is a clear analysis of the winners and losers in this rich county vs/ poor county scramble for water resources.
