Question about who receives awards edit
The entry says that awards "were presented to the engineers, mixers and/or producers in addition to the performing artists" but the Grammy Awards site (www.grammy.com) lists as winners/awards recipients only the producers of winning compilations and only the performing artists on albums that are not compilations. Can someone explain this?
The NARAS (aka The Academy) rules specify that the producer(s) of a compilation receive the award -- not the artists. Can someone explain this?
Hawaii recording artists have confused things by going on stage when they were not actually winners -- the entry mentions Jeff Peterson doing this.
The entry mentions that Daniel Ho has five wins but didn't he also produce and engineer the solo album by Tia Carrere? Table? edit
This article is very hard to follow. Tables have been attempted in the past, but have either been executed poorly or have been deleted. A table would not only make the article easier to read, but also make it more similar to other Grammy category articles. - I agree with this wholeheartedly. The article in its current form simply isn't practical. Tables are standard for this type of article, and I would argue that the main purpose an article like this should serve is to act as a place where people can (very quickly) find the names of winning and nominated albums for any given year - it should only take readers a few seconds to find this information, but that's not possible without a table.
- I've never actually edited this article myself, but I'm occasionally interested in finding information in it, and as a reader, I've never been satisfied with this article because of how long it takes me to find what I'm looking for. Presenting the information in a long prose section is fine - and even interesting - to have in addition to a table, but a table would serve a purpose for a lot of people and shouldn't be omitted.
