Ex-Senators call for steps to counter a bio-attack by Keith Johnson October 12, 2011 in the Wall Street Journal; excerpt ...
Two former senators are expected Wednesday to call for more investment in medical countermeasures to limit the impact of a biological attack and thus deter terrorists, in their latest report on the nation's preparedness for such an event. The ex-senators, Democrat Bob Graham and Republican Jim Talent, long have long been critical of U.S. readiness. They are now at the WMD Center, a bipartisan think tank. The center's recommendation is to focus less on trying to prevent an attack with biological weapons, and more on vaccines, antibiotics, and other treatments that can limit casualties.
