Linking of dates
editI am against overlinking, but certain dates in the history of Khanlar are important for context, namely 1819 when Helenendorf was founded as a German city, and 1930 when it was made a rayon. 1819 is important because Helenendorf was part of the colonialization plan of Alexander I of Russia for the new Caucasus territories that Russia had acquired. 1930 is important as the creation of the Khanlar Rayon was part of the reorganization of Russia under the First Five-Year Plan. --Bejnar 15:43, 30 May 2007 (UTC)
Name of article
editThe reason I added city extension initially is because there is also famous Lake Goygol located in the same region, which exists since a major earthquake in medieval times, which rocked the city of Ganja and the top of Kyapaz mountain fell blocking the river into a lake. The article about this lake is available in Azeri Wikipedia [[1]] along with picture. Atabek (talk) 16:20, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
- I couldn't find any mention of Goygol in the Azeri Cyrillic reference provided, with my meager knowledge of the language; can you tell me which sentence it's in? I found Shirvan just fine, and I'd just like to be able to confirm the Azeri name, as well as the change, which the English source said was somewhat more controversial than the Ali Bayramli change. --Golbez (talk) 16:24, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
Actually, the news is in Russian, Azeri Cyrillic is not used anywhere in press or media since 2000, I believe. The section you're looking for in Russian link is here: "город Ханлар – в Гейгель" [2]. Atabek (talk) 16:35, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
- Ah, that explains why I couldn't find it in Azeri Cyrillic. =p --Golbez (talk) 17:51, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
