Talk:Governor/Archives/2018

/* British Empire and Commonwealth of Nations */

There are a number of issues here. I would try to fix them myself, but have limited time at present and would prefer to move with consensus on this.

  • No real discussion of the massively varying powers of Governors, i.e. from direct control of the executive in "old school" colonies, to the modern, purely ceremonial positions in independent Commonwealth realms.
  • Terms and article links that are loaded, i.e. they are either overly specific or ambiguous; e.g. "Administrators, Commissioners and High Commissioners" and "Legislative Councils or Assemblies" are terms used only in some cases and have varying meanings – generic terms are preferable and omission of links is better than links to articles with limited/no relevance. Throwing in terms like "not to be confused with" does not avoid confusion.
  • Non-NPOV language, e.g. "his" (see MOS:GNL) and even the title is non-NPOV, i.e. Commonwealth of Nations now includes everything that used to be called British Empire.
  • Lack of references.

"Pre-Roman Empires"

Lol. I'm sorry to be so blunt about this, but this is retarded. Shouldn't this section be called "history"? What makes the Roman Republic/Roman Empire the gold standard by which to compare everything that came before and after it? The Roman Empire was also limited to Europe, West Asia, and North Africa. Except for modern types of governors, this article completely ignores governors as they existed in other parts of the ancient world, such as South Asia and East Asia. This article is in desperate need of a rewrite. Unfortunately I don't have time for such things, but I beg of other editors to at least touch up the more absurdly unbalanced and biased areas of this article, please.
