I see no advertising on the main page; the page merely explains how Google Analytics works. However, there is at present a header that complains about advertising. I have no connection with Google. A quick search on 'google analytics and privacy' bought up many articles related to Google Analytics & Privacy. Could these sort of issues be listed maybe under a 'privacy concerns' section of the article. Is AdWords required?

Google's use of the word 'free' maybe deceptive if Adwords, which is a pay-for service, is required.

Google Analytics and Privacy 3

WRT privacy, although there are many articles about Google, Google Analytics and privacy, a great deal of it is misinformed information and not relevant (and certainly shouldn't be perpetuated here). For example, it is against the Google Analytics ToS to collect personal identifiable information on web site visitors - see for example section 7 of http://www.google.com/analytics/tos.html. All data reports are at the anonymous and agreegate level. In fact that is an important distinction of GA versus many of its competitors.

I understand the concerns of privacy and Google and that is an important debate. However I do not feel this particular page is the correct place to have that debate, which should be about the history and facts of the tool/service. Bclifton (talk) 00:01, 31 August 2008 (UTC)

Bugs and lack of support

The page states: "Google offers no mechanism to report bugs or support." I must say that there (now) are support options, such as a bug list and a contact form. I suggest that this paragraph is removed, it seems outdated. JorritSchippers (talk) 13:15, 6 November 2008 (UTC)

Campaign Tracking and Tagging

I noticed the article doesn't talk about tracking parameters much. Like all web analytics programs, Google Analytics requires good data to come *in* for the data that comes out to be actionable. This is especially true for marketing campaigns. Link Spam?

It appears that most links are added as a means to advertise websites. I suggest replacing as many of them as possible with links to information on Google's website. Please review all links.

Limitations

I'm suprised that no one has mentioned the fact that anyone accessing the site without the use of JavaScript, such as a spider, or other process will not be collected by GA. Also, there is a lot of information available in traditional web analytic applications that work from Log Files that is not available in GA - such as pages reporting a 500 series HTTP Code. Hi. It seems the current version of the article addresses your concerns, however only in a qualitative way. Visibility

The article does not say if a website using the services of Google Analytics, automatically displays on its page to its customer/visitor that his/her visit is being registered. Politis (talk) 09:26, 26 April 2010 (UTC)

I think this goes for any analytics software. If this is an issue, it should be stated on the terms and conditions of the website. The analytics software has no involvement in this. Talktrue (talk) 19:37, 20 September 2010 (UTC)

Unreliable source on JavaScript percent

The http://visualrevenue.com/blog/2007/08/eu-and-us-javascript-disabled-index.html source, indicating that only minor percent of users have JavaScript disabled, is a blog and not a scientific study. As such, it lacks completely any details on how the data were collected, how representative the data are (user at work, user at home?) and how the result is affected by tools like NoScript that block JavaScript per page. Also the results of such importance should likely be published in more reliable source. I have placed {{fact}} next to this reference, some better reference is needed here.
