editOriginal cite-needed tag put up w/r/t William's banner: that's unnecessary as it's (a) true and (b) sources are available at his page and pages about the Norman invasion. On the other hand, the article could use some sources other than (presumably) the Italian wiki article, particularly for the use of the Papal umbrella as early as the 1300s. Its own article suggests that the umbrella wasn't a papal symbol until the 15th century. -LlywelynII (talk) 05:31, 5 June 2010 (UTC)
One problem
editGianfrancesco I Gonzaga, marquis of Mantua may have been a Gonfalonier, but it would've been in 1412, not 1512, when Julius II was pope. -LlywelynII (talk) 14:23, 5 June 2010 (UTC)
