Wrong name
editfor some reason in the very first paragraph it says "Samuel Goldfish" lol, could someone correct that as it obviously should be "Goldwyn"? Or maybe I am unaware that his previous last name was Goldfish... 93.136.63.249 (talk) 12:30, 2 August 2012 (UTC)
- This is central to things: Samuel Goldwyn's original surname was Gelbfisch (or Goldfish in English) and when he formed the company with the Selwyns, the combined their names to name the company Goldwyn. Then the human, Gelbfisch/Goldfish, liked the name of the company so much (at least compared to his own surname) that he changed his name legally to Goldwyn. This caused a lot of confusion and even a lawsuit to allow the name change. Metro Goldwyn Mayer had nothing to do with Samuel Goldwyn but was the result of a merger between three companies -- at that time, Goldwyn was no longer a co-owner of the company. He formed a separate company that exists to this day The Samuel Goldwyn Pictures, eventually run by his son, Samuel Goldwyn Junior. 50.230.251.244 (talk) 23:49, 7 April 2023 (UTC)

Orphaned references in Goldwyn Pictures
editI check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Goldwyn Pictures's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.
