Talk:Golden-crowned kinglet

Um, what?

edit

One of the sentences in the article says, "Northern birds remain further north in winter than the Ruby-crowned Kinglet." This doesn't make a lot of sense, or at least is extremely ambiguous. Does anyone know what it's attempting to say? The language needs to be clarified. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ichneumon (talkcontribs) 00:59, 2 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

According to Bernd Heinrich, GCKs either migrate or don't. Both options have low survival rates (hence the high reproduction rate), but by splitting the survival bet between the two options, the species has a better chance of surviving if severe weather wipes out those that stay or those that go. Range; migration

In Upstate New York, I witnessed GCKI only during migration, whereas many range maps show them year-round or wintering there. Aythya affinis (talk) 14:40, 8 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
