UK Gold Rename

Have UK Gold etc.. all just been renamed today (8 March) ? Mintguy (T)

I think the article clarifies that point, but yes. Lee M 03:35, 18 Apr 2004 (UTC)

Why is it hypocritical for the BBC to cut programmes in some cases and not others? Tim Ivorson 15:14, 14 Aug 2004 (UTC)

  • Because it shows an almost capricious inconsistency. Anyway, programmes paid for by the licence fee shouldn't be cut for commercial timing on a subscription channel - why should viewers pay more to see less??? Lee M 02:48, 5 Nov 2004 (UTC)
  • Why should licence payers have to pay at all? This channel really ought to be on Freeview now that there is extra capacity, especially as their commercial competitor ITV have launched ITV3 on Freeview, which was formerly this channel's rival. User:Rob 23:16, 21 January 2006 (UTC)
The unfortunate fault with this argument is that you could say that why should you pay normal rates for video tapes or DVD's of BBC programmes if you've already payed for them. Unfortunately it doesn't work like that. :) Douglasnicol 16:45, 1 January 2007 (UTC)

Removed Channel 4 mention. Also, UK Gold began 1 day before the 10th anniversary. How is that "coincident"? Fred FuManchu 19:28, 23 April 2007 (UTC)

Telewest Channel Number?

I have updated the NTL channel number, but don't know if the number on Telewest was changed to match NTL's. - Lee Stanley 16:14, 3 October 2006 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Cxffcb.gif

Image:Cxffcb.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 23:19, 2 June 2007 (UTC)

New logo?

Why has the logo been changed which does not happen until October? /Marbles (talk) 12:01, 19 July 2008 (UTC)

UKTV GoldG.O.L.D. or Gold (TV channel) — Since UKTV Gold will rebrand this week, it is unclear what the article should be renamed to —  [[ axg ⁞⁞ talk ]] 09:27, 6 October 2008 (UTC)

It is G.O.L.D., and as such, I have moved it to G.O.L.D., which means it's   Done. -- MISTER ALCOHOL T C 19:01, 6 October 2008 (UTC)

Last night, I moved all UKTV Gold content over to G.O.L.D, then somebody had deleted it when I checked it this morning! I'm just glad to see common sense has prevailed! --Bravo Plantation (talk) 21:47, 6 October 2008 (UTC)

Good. G.O.L.D. is now its name, so please don't move this back to UKTV Gold. ;) -- MISTER ALCOHOL T C 05:56, 7 October 2008 (UTC)

Main channel?

Although this is descended from the original UKTV channel, it's arguably not their "main channel" anymore (0.5% audience share, compared to 0.9% for Dave). It's not even on Freeview. Should it just be changed to "a" channel? Bob talk 11:40, 22 October 2009 (UTC)

I'll do that now.--PhilipB (talk) 20:38, 26 August 2010 (UTC)

Article rename

The Article should be renamed GOLD (UK TV Channel) because it has been rebranded to GOLD as apposed to G.O.L.D. User:Unregistered TV Attention Payer Man —Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.103.233.165 (talk) 00:25, 26 August 2010 (UTC)

Done. --PhilipB (talk) 20:37, 26 August 2010 (UTC)
Unfortunately per Wikipedia:Manual of Style (trademarks), the name of the article should be lowercase and be at Gold (TV channel). -- [[ axg ◉ talk ]] 22:11, 26 August 2010 (UTC)
