Concept Albums

edit

Without editing the page, can someone confirm whether Midian was a concept album? I'm sure it was which makes Godspeed their 3rd concept album, not second magnius (talk) 16:58, 21 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Midian wasn't a concept album. The songs themselves were conceptual but that's typical of everything the band did post-Principle. The album itself was not a concept album. Vixen Windstorm (talk) 17:02, 21 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

The Midian page lists it as concept, so who is wrong? magnius (talk) 17:04, 21 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

I discussed this with Cardinal Wurzel a while ago. To an extent, all their albums are conceptual in one way or another, some more so than others, so saying it's their "3rd" concept album or whatever would be wrong. ≈ The Haunted Angel 17:12, 21 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

I've never seen the album referred to as conceptual, even the Wikipedia article doesn't clarify how it is conceptual; it only provides a brief history lesson about what Midian is, which has little to do with the content of the album. Unless there's a source for what makes Midian a concept album, the mention doesn't belong in even Midian's article. The liner notes don't even provide insight into the songs are conceptually tied. Would it just be easier to name it as a concept album without referring to any of their other 'concept' albums? magnius (talk) 17:32, 21 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

That's what the article says now, lol. Vixen Windstorm (talk) 17:41, 21 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

This is actually the first wiki entry that I have ever started, it's fun watching more experienced members improve it :) Saves me the job too lol magnius (talk) 17:45, 21 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

There seems to be one glaring omission in this discussion: Damnation And A Day. The bulk of that album is a tale inspired by Milton's Paradise Lost. As for Midian, I'd say there was a loose theme - the place where the monsters live - not no overriding concept. If anything, I'd say there are three prior concept albums, but one of them is Damnation And A Day, not Midian.Morogth (talk) 18:52, 10 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

The article doesn't cross link with the other wikipedia languages. (213.96.203.23 (talk) 08:28, 28 August 2008 (UTC))Reply

Line up

edit

I changed the line up for the album, in an interview Dani said it's only himself, Paul, Dave, Martin, and someone called "Captain Keyboards" (aka Mark Newby-Robson, as Dani revealed in a different interview) on the album —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.96.150.25 (talk) 02:05, 3 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Here is where he say's it by the way. Interview with Dani (Filthy113 (talk) 04:22, 3 September 2008 (UTC))Reply

Thanks, it's been noted, along with some other useful information from the interview. Vixen Windstorm (talk) 05:05, 3 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Sarah

edit
Sarah isn't in this album, she was pregnent and hence didn't record. (talk)

Well she's listed in the album sleeve. According to that, Carolyn Gretton is on lead female vocals, and SJD is "spoken and harmonies". So a reduced role, but not entirely absent. Cardinal Wurzel (talk) 08:19, 31 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Grimes vs Crimes

edit

Looking at it now, yes you are correct of course it is "Crimes" as the font of the two G's of very different. Apologies magnius (talk) 20:54, 28 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

No problem, it was just a little mistake. :) Vixen Windstorm (talk) 21:39, 28 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Track lengths

edit

Album has been leaked via torrent, I have a copy and have added track lengths accordingly. In my defense, I have paid for a genuine copy of the limited edition, but I am impatient. magnius (talk) 18:07, 30 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Leaked Tracks

edit

At the moment leaked tracks of this album exists in Youtube. Should we note this? 89.100.206.201 (talk) 18:55, 2 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

In a word, no. magnius (talk) 19:48, 2 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
Properly put, YouTube isn't a notable source, and it isn't only this site to have these tracks. Whoever uploaded these got them from the P2P leak of the album yesterday. But unless an actual report of the album leaking surfaces, this isn't notable information for the article. See WP:ALBUM#Leak. Vixen Windstorm (talk) 19:49, 2 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

The whole album was leaked on 30th September 2008. Can be seen at ishunt.com / I wonder why someone removed this information from the wiki article...? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.102.203.160 (talk) 16:11, 5 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

It isn't really relevant to the article, and just promotes piracy. All we need is the genuine release date, track listings and information directly relating to the album. magnius (talk) 16:28, 5 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
