Censors dislike time travel?

edit

Do any sources mention facts or theories as to why the censors dislike themes of time travel? MPS1992 (talk) 18:57, 3 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

The article cited says the following:

China's government has showed its disapproval of programs that depict time travel before. In 2011 – when several shows featuring protagonists going back to ancient times were popular – it issued guidelines that said production companies were discouraged from making them because they "lack positive thoughts and meaning."

Thank you, that is very interesting. I will see if I can summarise it appropriately in the article too. MPS1992 (talk) 21:11, 3 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

The article says the budget was "20 million yuan (US$3 million)" which is reasonable for the current exchange rate, but then says that "the show has generated over $1.5 million (41 million yuan) in profit" which is way off ($1.5 million is 9.75 million yuan). It appears that the two profit numbers are taken from two sources which are wildly inconsistent with each other. Reference 1 [1] says the show earned "more than 50,000 paid subscribers and $1.5 million in profit" while reference 4 [2] says the show "gained LeTV 2.2 million new memberships and 41 million yuan in profit". The second reference is dated less than a week after the first. Mnudelman (talk) 00:04, 4 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

Title translation

Google Translate gives the literal translation of 太子妃升职记 as "Prince Edward's Promotion." This seems really strange, not having seen it yet (just checked the DVD out of the library). The first two characters alone translate as "too" and "child." 妃 translates "imperial concubine," and the last three are "job," "rise," "and remember."--Scottandrewhutchins (talk) 04:10, 4 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
