RED ARROWS SERVICE

According to Go North East themselves the X1/X2 services are no longer branded as Red Arrows (this now being the premise of the new X23 service between Durham-Metrocentre) This is probably down to the continued delay in the Mercedes Citaro delivery. A rebranding is expected but the article has been edited with details. The Omnicity buses operating the service will move onto Service 21 (which will also get a new branding) when Citaro's arrived.

But currently, no branded coaches or buses operate on this service and Go North East website and latest timetable releases reaffirms this

Why has the information about single route branding been changed?

As a regular traveller I can confirm that none of the buses I travel on a daily basis carry the Go Northern, Gateshead etc branding but simply Go North East and this has been the case for a long time

Perhaps your confseing fleetname and legal lettering. As is said at the top of the article, buses carry Go North East fleetnames. When you get the bus tomorrow look just behind the front wheel, it will have something like; 'Go Wear Buses Ltd. 117 Queen Street.....' in sall black letters.

Pink Panthers

321/322 - Pink Panthers (Using the same buses on the now defunct Durham Pink Panther services)

Are these services promoted as Pink Panthers? It seems that the Solos have just been reallocated to Percy Main to get them out of the public eye in Durham. AFAIK these still have 'Durham - Arnison Centre' on the back, surely if they had been adapted for the 321/322 they would have something like 'Benton Asda - Holy Cross' on them? Their also seems to be no indication on the GNE website as to these services being officially branded or for this to come about in the forthcoming round of service changes.

This change was publicised (although quietly) for a short time on the Press Info main page and is now available through simplygo.com by clicking on the Press Info and then Archives than January 2007. The first paragraph of that press release is 'From Sunday January 14, Pink Panthers will be the new name for Go North East's 321 and 322 service running from Asda at Benton to Churchill Street via Wallsend Metro and Holy Cross'

Ah yes, they did keep that well hidden! Seems a shame the 321/2 are only getting a recycled livery and not a full rearrangement etc. that other services have gained.

Standard Vehicle Types

The fleet in use is totally innacurate - many of the buses categorised as "past" are still in use in various districts.

Also note that a new fleet of buses is now in use on the 45/46/46A route, could someone please find out what type it is?

This has been done. It is the batch of Scania Omnicity that Go Ahead have ordered. I think they may have ordered around 60 (they are advertising new buses for the 21 services, despite a new-ish fleet operating there anyway and they are taking coaches off the Red Arrows route) At the moment its hard to get a grip on movements until the new service changes come into effect on 25th February, a lot of unfamilar vehicle types are on different routes as new buses are brought in

May I point out that 'Current Standard Vehicle Types' are the buses GNE are currently buying new as a 'standard', 'Past Standard Vehicle Types' are mostly still in use but are no longer purchased as standard. I have removed Scania L94UB/Wright Solar from the current list to past as GNE seems they no longer wish to standardize upon this. I have added Merc Citaro to the Current list as GNE have a batch of them on order and are to be their standard express buses.

In this case it may be worth clarifying the definitions within the actual article. The OmniCity are now operating on X2 Red Arrows routes in pink 21 livery due to a delay on Mercedes Citaro order

The List of Standard Vehicle Types was intended to be a short list of what GNE are buying now and what they had previousley bought, as standard. If people are interested in what buses do what and their allocations and current issues within the fleet, perhaps a table could be created showing service number, brand name, depot, standard bus etc. This may need to be on a serperate article as i imagine it would be quite a length.

Jayline Travel

Could everyone please note that Go North East did not acquire Jayline Travel. Go North East operate services under contract to Durham County Council that were formally operated by Jayline. Go North East purchased some of Jaylines newer vehicles, 2 Solos I think, as well as rights to use the Jayline name on local bus services in the area, but not the company.

Route 19

Can the R19 be classed as a Go North East service? As far as I am aware it is part of the Route 19 scheme that includes a new ferry landing at North Shields, the building of Northumberland Park Metro station and improvements at Percy Main. The livery etc. predates GNE's 'Branded Services', starting in 2003/2004 I think.

I'm no real expert on this but I'd say it would be. It appears in the timetables section of the GNE site, in the normal order and standard form like the other services. Regarding it predating the branded services, well it is still a branded route (own livery etc), its logo featuring in the "branded services" section of the website. Also route X10 predates the other routes, and that is there too. Also the route 19 website links to the GNE one. The logo was already in the old gallery, and I didn't want it to get deleted if it wasn't in the table! I hope you can see why I added it. Arriva436^talk 15:27, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

I can see the reasons why it was added, however what I'm bringin into question is, can this be included as part of GNE's new 'branded services' scheme (of wich the X10 was a trial) since this is not a GNE service and was not branded for the same reasons as the others. The R19 is a Nexus service operated by GNE as part of the Route 19 scheme, in quite a similar way to Stagecoach in Newcastle operateing the QuayLink services. Perhaps the R19 could be delt with in a seperate section??

While not introduced as one of the new-style branded services, it is still a "branded service" and can be seen as that. As I have already mentioned, the route and its logo appear on the branded routes section of the GNE website, in exactly the same style as all the others; normal passengers would never know that it was introduced before "their" other branded routes. As for the X10, I would disagree it was a trial. While it may sort of been one, the decision to re-brand routes individually was made by the new managing director - the X10 being done before he arrived. RE-ROUTE 19, I WOULD ASUME IT IS A GNE BRANDED SERVICE, UNLESS NEXUS HAND CONTROL TO ANOTHER OPERATOR, UNDER THE TENDERING CONTRACT. NEXUS HELD PUBLIC TRANSPORT MEETINGS , ALL OVER SOUTH TYNESIDE IN JAN. AT HEBBURN COMMUNITY CENRES MEETING, I HEARD , NEXUS ARE CONSIDERING EXTENDING ROUTE 19, THRU TYNE TUNNEL, AT SOME POINT WHEN THE TWIN TUNNELS ARE OPERATING. New image?

This image.

I recently found this image on the Wikimedia Commons. I wondered whether it had a place on this article of not.I'm not good with bus history, so I don't know if it is a significant livery or just a random one with "Go North East" names because it hadn't been repainted yet! This is one of the former OK Travel vehicles that were acquired with the company. OK later become Go Northerns Bishop Auckland depot (now Arriva NE). Could perhaps be better used on OK Motor Services. Glenn Scott (talk) 13:18, 14 October 2008 (UTC)

The Drifter

Since GNE have rearranged their services in Sunderland it seems some surplus Marshall Capitals in full drifter livery (original version) have been operateing on service 87 (previously operated by Cadets that whent to the Drifter). Service 87 is not officially a 'branded service' as, after all a branded service is more than just a livery. I have therefore removed service 87 from the drifter entry in the 'branded services' list.
