Merge into Diabetes

I don't agree with the proposal that this article be merged with the diabetes article. The measurement of blood glucose is a common medical test that should have its own entry in Wikipedia. Its utility is not restricted to the management of diabetes. If it should be merged with another article, then merging it with blood sugar makes more sense. —Brim 22:02, 27 October 2005 (UTC)

What is safe to eat?

Is it possible for people to have non sugary things before a glucose blood test? I get that caffeinated tea or coffee would affect blood glucose, but what about drinking mint tea? no sugar, no caffeine.... Ottawakismet (talk) 14:56, 31 January 2013 (UTC)

I am not an expert either but I can see the confusion, and possible/probable errors, and also the reference provided for 'Fasting blood sugar' leads to something different ie 'Glucose tolerance test'. I have moved this reference to a more suitable place, and put in some "citation needed"s. (I have tried looking myself, but cannot verify the values in the article.) Glucose Test Affected by Sugar Substitute ?

Does anyone know if sugar substitutes such as aspartame and saccharin affect blood sugar tests? My testing seems to indicate higher readings if I consume aspartame prior to a glucose test.
