Girlfriends is exactly the same as Sex and the City, some shows have the same titles. joan is a laywer, mirand is a lawyer on sex and the city. it is the same. they never show either girls in court.

PLEASE HELP!! I have been all over the internet and i watch girlfriends all the time, and yet i cannot seem to get the name of the artist that sings Lynn's songs. I think everything she has done on this show, especially the song that played at the end of the episode when maya and darnell get back together, is awesome and I just want to know who the real artist and the name of that song in particular. OK, WTF!?!?

Well after exploring the IMDB boards, I have some unconfirmed theories.

One theory says that the actors decided to make a pact to get a raise as the show was making the transition to the CW. But because of this transition, there was a lot of uncertainty as to whether or not Girlfriends would make it. To keep her options open Jill Marie Jones (Toni) auditioned for another show and got the part. She made a choice between the new show and Girlfriends and ulimately chose the new show during the uncertainty period. Unfortunetely, Girlfriends did make it and the actors got the raises they wanted.

There's also another theory saying that Jones was also motivated to leave by Tracee Ellis Ross (Joan)'s behaviour on the set (apparently they were not getting along as Ross was acting like a "diva"). Once again these are all unconfirmed rumours so I wouldn't put it in until we get some more credible sources to back these theories up. --64.231.224.88 05:42, 1 July 2006 (UTC)

is this true, didn't Sivad feel pressured from Lynn's sexual advances and ended the relationship?

If so, then keep it up, but if not, perhaps this needs modification...

Episode Guide

should there be an episode guide that shows the episode arcs in detail as well as story arcs? not pressuring any one (since i know that DVD's and internet releases are guarded extremly well), but if possible, does anyone have the information and resources to help start an episode guide

I agree. I wanna know what happens in some of those miniseries and the new season after the November 20th episode. I have reruns on Fox and they have an audio problem that makes it sound crisp whenever a character talks. It sucks. Criticisms page

Ok, now on to more serious matters.

After an extensive reading of each of all the shows episode synopsis, along with my own personal watching , I feel as though some sort of criticisms section is need to reflect on the controversial viewpoints that this show and its creators hold against interracial marriage and their mixed progeny. It seems very obvious that the writer and director of this program is extremely bigoted against people of mixed heritage and the communions in which they are made. For instance, Persia White's character Lynn is portrayed as a tragically dysfunctional mulatto girl with slight nymphomaniac tendencies and for being the least professional of the bunch, whom of all are strong and independent *fully black women.

Moreover, the most appalling aspect of this show (and the main reason I wrote this) is how the entire relationship between Toni and Todd is handled. The creators of the show went in with the full intention of making there marriage as awkward and devastating as possible. Throughout the whole series, the threat of divorce is always swung back and forth, from the beginning of the marriage to its very end, where he calls for divorce while she is pregnant with his child. The writers mask their bigoted message by applying negative qualities to him (i.e. short, Jewish, fidelity) in order to justify getting rid of him. With no example of what a good interracial marriage should look like, the audience is left to believe there is none, and that it can never leads to love or fulfillment.

As someone who has exclusively studied these kinds of relationships and has grown to greatly admire those who have made the effort to cast down these past biases, I am indeed greatly offended by how this show uses it position to promote such racist ideals while still remaining a mainstream following. Heh, I could barely watch the wedding scene and the preceding events because it was so awkward (I tend to get squeamish like that). Nevertheless, although it is a high-profile show, I wouldn't necessarily take it too seriously, it's just entertainment after all. I'm not sure that a fictional account of a few specific people is intended to represent entire races. I take everything on TV with a grain of salt. At any rate, criticism should be based on words given by notable critics, rather than any personal objections. Maya's miscarriage

Under Maya, the article states she miscarried she and Darnell's child. Yet under Darnell it lists she is pregnant with their child. These two should be reconciled, and as I don't know which is correct, I'll leave that job to someone else. Itsmeiam (talk) 07:31, 19 November 2007 (UTC)

Looking for help writing an article about the spin-offs and crossovers of this series

I am writing an article about all of the series which are in the same shared reality as this one through spin-offs and crossovers. I could use a little help expanding the article since it is currently extremely dense and a bit jumbled with some sentence structures being extremely repetitive. I would like to be able to put this article into article space soon. Any and all help in writing the article would be appreciated, even a comment or two on the talk page would help. As of the "Gilmore Girls"-article precisely pointing out in which of its episodes the mentioned reference to "Girlfriends" is, I'm wondering if it is also right in saying that the "Girlfriends"-episode, which refers to the "Gilmore Girls", is not of the seventh, but of the sixth season... Where are the old character pages? They used to have them.

There are 8 f-- seasons, why were their character pages deleted and turned into measly blurbs? If the Sex and The City Girls can get their own pages...WTF.
