A fact from Giovanni Faber appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the Did you know column on 9 March 2008, and was viewed approximately 1,305 times (disclaimer) (check views). The text of the entry was as follows:
Did you know... that Giovanni Faber(pictured), doctor to the Pope, botanist and art collector, coined the name "microscope"?

In it:Autoritratto con amici a Mantova list of the subjects on the painting does not include Faber: "Da sinistra a destra, i sei personaggi sono forse Frans Pourbus, Caspar Schoppe , William Richardot, dietro il fratello Filippo Rubens, Peter Paul Rubens, e Justus Lipsius." Unfortunately, there is no source given neither here nor there. --Oop (talk) 10:07, 23 September 2011 (UTC)Reply
Hello,
if there a doubt on the identity of the personnage, it would be better to take back this image from the page "Giovanni Faber".
Wikipedia wants to be serious, it would not diffuse doubtful or erroneous informations.
Today, I have taken back this "portrait" until anyone presents a proof of the identity of the personnage against P.P. Rubens.--Jacques Mertzeisen (talk) 00:37, 9 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
