Lt. Col. Gilbert O. Wymond, Jr, U.S.A.A.F

Watching this movie right this moment on YouTube. Just found it by luck. Had a mental "Hey!" moment, (partly because the plane's name, HunHunter XVI, sounded familiar) and Googled this young man's name, partly because of the plane's name, and because of his incredible youth, at 24, already a Lt. Col., and in charge of his squadron. Something just told me to look up his name, and found this on Wikipedia, as well as other listings. Was very sad to see he was killed under a month (May 11, 1949) after being sent to his last post-war assignment, Shaw A.F.B., South Carolina, in April, 1949, in the crash of his F-84 Thunderjet.😣 ShariD (talk) 22:26, 21 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
